UNHCR Driver knocks 8-year-old child dead in Kabale

The police in Kabale have arrested one Kule Mushen 53yrs, a resident of Nakivale refugee camp in Isingiro district and driver of UNHCR for knocking an 8-year-old child to death.

Kule was driving Motor vehicle reg no. UBG 770F IVECO white in color of UNHCR Nakivale when he hit a child identified as Ainomujuni Baramu 8yrs a son to Barisigala Medard of Nyakahanga village, Kitowa parish Kaharo sub-county in Kabale district while attempting to cross.

The incident happened at about 1800hrs on 29/12/2021 at Kyobugombe trading center along Kabale Mbarara highway in Kabale district.

According to Elly Maate the Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson, the driver was heading to Kisoro when the victim jumped on the road to cross but the vehicle was already close, hence crashing him dead on spot.

The scene was visited by IP Twinobuhamizo OC traffic Kabale and team, the postmortem was done and the body was handed over to family members for burial.

The killer vehicle is currently parked at Kabale police yard pending IOV inspection and the driver is in police custody.

Maate says the cause of the accident has been registered as a careless pedestrian who was crossing without observing road safety precautionary measures.
