Two perish in Jinja-Kampala highway accident

Two people have been confirmed dead following an accident at around 9:00 PM on Wednesday evening at Kitigoma village along the Jinja – Kampala highway in Buikwe District.

According to ASP Nampiima Faridah PRO Traffic and Road Safety Directorate, the deceased are two male adults who died moments after being rushed to the hospital.

The accident involved two motor vehicles reg. No. UAT 279J Tata Truck white in color and UBH 683E a Toyota Hiace white in color.

Nampiima also noted that six (06) passengers who are yet to be identified were severely injured and rushed to Jinja hospital for treatment.

Cause of the accident

It is alleged that Motor vehicle reg no. UBH 683E Toyota Hiace driven by unknown driver lost control and rammed into Motor vehicle reg no. UAT 279J Tata Truck white in color from behind, both vehicles were heading towards Jinja from Kampala side.

“We want to urge drivers, especially during this season when people are returning from villages and schools yet opening soon period, to be cautious on the road and drive carefully. Our hearts and thoughts are with the family of the deceased and we wish a quick recovery to the injured victims” says ASP Nampiima.
