Horror as man stabs wife to death in Kiryandongo District

A 40-year old man in Kiryandongo district is in Police custody for allegedly stabbing his wife to death.

Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson identified the suspect as Joseph Lutaaya, a resident of Panyadoli village in Panyadoli parish Mutunda sub-county in Kiryandongo district.

Lutaaya is alleged to have picked a quarrel with his 36-year-old wife Mary Habuya, after 10 p.m on Wednesday night. The quarrel started when Lutaaya returned home late last night and his wife tasked him to explain why he returned home late from the Panyadoli trading center.

The husband was angry and picked a knife, stabbed Habuya in the neck killing her instantly. Though residents responded to an alarm sounded by Habuya, it was too late to save her life.

Residents teamed up with the police and arrested the suspect who was taken to Kiryandongo central police station where he is currently being held on murder charges.
The deceased’s body was conveyed to Kiryandongo General hospital pending a postmortem.
