Katwe Police Detain Three Over Suspected Government Stores
Police in Katwe are holding three suspects in connection with the possession of suspected government stores and other items recovered during an operation conducted in Salaama, Makindye Division.
According to SP Racheal Kawala, the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, police officers on patrol received information at about 2:00 a.m. on 11 June 2026 regarding two men who were allegedly involved in attacking members of the public with pangas. The suspects were reportedly sleeping in a house located in Zikusooka Zone, Salaama, Makindye Division, Kampala District.
A team of officers immediately responded and conducted an operation at the suspected premises, leading to the arrest of three suspects, two men and one woman. The suspects have been identified as: Muwanga George Makanga, Ahumuza Mashood, and Ishimwe Kethier.
During a search of the premises, Kawala says officers recovered a backpack containing a toy gun, a metallic torch, a screwdriver, a sensor, a knife, and several test tubes.
Police also recovered 10 rounds of live ammunition from the house.
The suspects remain in police custody pending further interrogation as investigations into the matter continue.
