Man hacks Two-year-old child to death, injures two others over land wrangles

A 36- year-old man is in custody at Kasusu Police Post in Fort Portal over the murder of a two-year-old child and injuring two others.

Vincent Twesige the Rwenzori West Police Spokesperson identifies the suspect as David Kachope a resident of Kidukuru Cell Karambi Ward in Fort Portal.

Kachope allegedly hacked Angel Fautsine to death on Tuesday night before cutting the deceased’s sister Irene Namara 10 years and Elijah Nsereko aged 1 year.

The children’s mother Deborah Nagawa says that Kachope waited for her to enter the bathroom and then attacked the children inside her house.

When she returned from the bathroom, Nagawa found Kachope hacking the children using an axe and raised an alarm which attracted neighbors who disarmed the suspect and took him to Kasusu Police Post.

Nsereko was rushed to Maranatha Children’s Clinic while Faustine is admitted at Virika Hospital.

The Police are investigating the motive of the suspect but they have received reports that the attack on the children is a result of a land wrangle between the suspect’s family and Nagawa.
