Horror as 30-year-old man kills own mother, shoves body in pit latrine
Police in Kikuube have arrested a monstrous 30-year-old man accused of hacking his biological mother to death and dumping her body in a pit latrine.
Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson identified the suspect as Fred Monday, a resident of Ruhunga village in Ruhunga parish in Buhimba sub-county.
Monday brutally murdered his mother Night Nabukalu, 55 over family land. The incident happened around 6 pm on Sunday in the same village.
According to Hakiza, available information indicated that Nabukalu sold part of the family land a year back and went to settle in Nalweyo village in Kakumiro district.
However, she reportedly returned on Sunday to check on her son who occupied part of their family land. But on seeing his mother, Monday immediately picked a panga and severally hacked his mother whom he suspected to have returned to sell the remaining land.
The deceased sustained deep cuts on the head, chest, and neck and died instantly. The suspect then dumped the body in a pit latrine and fled the crime scene. The duo have for long been feuding over family land.
Hakiza says that police teamed up with residents and arrested the suspect who was found hiding in a nearby bush, before whisking to Kikuube central police station, where he is currently locked up.
He added that once police investigations are through, the suspect will be arraigned before the court to face murder charges. Police also retrieved the deceased’s body from the pit-latrine and took it to Kikuibe health center IV pending post-mortem.
