Kasangati woman in trouble for beating niece to death over porridge

Police in Kasangati have arrested a woman for the murder of her niece. The incident happened on Saturday when a 20-year-old Nyirahabirwe Daughter beat her 2-year-old niece identified as Kasekende Michelle for refusing to drink porridge.

According to ASP Luke Owoyesigyire the KMP Deputy spokesperson, the suspect hired a car and lied to the driver that the child was sick and she was taking the child to the grandmother.

However, when they reached Nagalama, she got out of the vehicle, stuffed the body in a sack, and dumped it. She then lied to the driver, that the child had been handed over to the grandmother.

When the suspect returned home in Magije zone in Wakiso district, she told the maid to leave and instructed the special hire driver to drop her wherever she wanted to go.

The maid however told the driver that the woman had used his car to ferry a dead body. The driver called the police in Kasangati who arrested the suspect and she led them to the place where the body was dumped.

The child’s body had markings of serious beating and her neck was loose, indicating that she was hit on the neck.

The body was conveyed to Mulago city mortuary for postmortem. Owoyesigyire appealed to members of the public to be on the lookout for parents or guardians who beat up their children and report such cases to the police in order to save the little ones.
