Four Dead, Eight Injured in Nakasongola Crash
Four people lost their lives in a tragic accident that occurred on December 23, 2023, at 8:00 PM in Kapaburuuli, Migeera Town Council, Nakasongola District, along the Kampala-Gulu highway.
According to ASP Twineamazima Sam, the PRO of the Savannah Region, the accident claimed the lives of four adult men and one child, all of whom remain unidentified as they did not have any documentation on them.
Eight other individuals sustained injuries and were rushed to Nakasongola Health Centre IV for treatment. However, they were all unconscious and have since been referred to Mulago National Referral Hospital for advanced medical care.
The accident involved three vehicles: a blue Iveco trailer (registration SSD 797A/SSD 323F), a grey Toyota Hiace taxi (UBQ 356F), and a white Toyota Premio (UAX 554L). All the drivers of the vehicles remain unidentified.
Preliminary reports suggest the stationary trailer, which had broken down facing Kampala, was hit by a speeding taxi from the Gulu side. The impact caused the taxi to collide with the Premio travelling from Kampala, resulting in the deaths of four individuals on the spot and injuries to eight others.
Police responded promptly to the scene, documenting the incident. The bodies of the deceased were taken to Nakasongola Health Centre IV for postmortem examination. At the same time, the taxi and the Premio were impounded and taken to Migeera Police Station pending an IOV inspection.
