American Tourist Dies, Three Injured in Kanungu Road Crash
Police are investigating a fatal road crash that occurred today, Monday, January 27, 2025, at 7:00 am in Kakureiju village, Kanungu District.
The crash involved a Toyota Land Cruiser, registration number UAM 271U, driven by Alpha Dadaire, a 33-year-old resident of Wakiso District.
According to SP Kananura Michael, the CLO-Directorate of Traffic and Road Safety, the vehicle, carrying American tourists, failed to brake while navigating a sharp corner on a slope, lost control, and rolled several times before coming to rest at Kyeshero Bridge.
The crash resulted in the death of Shuldman Harrison Evan, a 40-year-old resident of New York, USA, while three others were injured: Zachary Avayou, a 39-year-old resident of Pennsylvania, USA; Jeremy Frederick Wright, a 25-year-old resident of California, USA; and the driver, Alpha Dadaire.
The victims were rushed to Bwindi Hospital for medical attention, while the deceased’s body was also conveyed to the same hospital.
The vehicle has been towed to Kihihi Police Station, where it is being held pending inspection and further inquiries.
