Boda boda rider killed in Nateete accident as properties worth Millions are destroyed in fire at Kawaala

Police in Kampala are searching for a tipper lorry Reg. No UAL 707F who failed to break and knocked a building along Mackey Road in Nateete, and caused the death of unidentified boda boda rider who was on a motorcycle Reg. No. UEK 231U.

Luke Oowyesigyire the police spokesperson says the incident happened on Sunday evening at around 7:30PM.

After the incident, the driver abandoned the lorry and went into hiding.

Meanwhile, the police are investigating a fire outbreak in Kawaala where furniture stores, mattress store and a garage burnt down.

Owoyesigyire says reports about the fire came in at around 4am. The fire and rescue department rushed to the scene and stopped it before spreading any further.

“A lot of property has been reported destroyed and efforts are under way to ascertain the exact value of the properties” Owoyesigyire noted.

He added that one person claims that a charcoal stove was left on overnight in one of the stores but it is yet to be ascertained as police investigations are ongoing.
