Police arrest Thugs who disguised as NWSC Officials to rob Chinese residence in Kyambogo

Police has arrested thugs who while disguising as National Water and Sewerage Cooperation, NWSC, carried out a robbery in Kyambogo.

A video of the suspects gaining entry to the house went viral on social media, causing panic among members of the public.

During the weekly press conference, police spokesperson Fred Enanga said they had identified and arrested three of the thugs with the help of CMI in KMP, police in Ntungamo & Bundibugyo.

According to Enanga, police arrested 6 suspects but three of the are the ones involved in the robbery at the home of occupied by Chinese Nationals at lower estate Edinburg avenue in Kyambogo.

Enanga says all three suspects seen as in the video; two male and one female have been successfully arrested. However, the fourth suspect who was monitoring the exterior is still in hiding.

“We want to inform you that we used advance surveillance technique and arrested the female suspect from Ntungamo where she was constructing a house for her mother. She has been identified as Kizza Elizabeth, a name she was previously using until she went to China and passport confiscated when she deported. She is now using other names of Mbabazi Judith” Enanga says.

According to Enanga, Mbabazi Judith is a resident of Lungujja in Kitonzi. Her arrest led to that of the other gang members who police tracked and arrested at a Guest house in Bundibugyo. At the time of their arrest, the police found two members of the crew who were in Kyambogo and another three suspects making it five.

“They were planning another robbery but now in the DRC. They had hired a vehicle and were planning to cross into the DRC. We managed to impound the vehicle and also arrest the suspects. Several break-in instruments were recovered and all their mobile phones” Enanga noted.

He identified the other suspects as Edson Musinguzi a 35-year-old resident of Nansana Ganda who is also team leader of the criminal gang, Kalyango Wilson, a 46-year-old resident of Mengo. He is the expert in all forms of breakings. Including breaking safes and padlocks.

Others are; Kamuzo sostene a 40-year-old resident of Kasese, Mpelese Joseph 46-year-old resident of Kiti. He was the driver of vehicle number UBB 8382 Toyota Premio. The other one is Muwoza Dan a 45-year-old resident of Mpererwe, Kanyanya.

Musinguzi, Muwoza Dan and Mbabazi were the ones involved in the Kyambogo robbery.

Police is currently working with the asset recovery team from CID to track down what assets they could have acquired in the short period.
