Woman stabs husband to death for failure to explain weekend escaped

Police in Jinja city has arrested a woman for stabbing her husband to death. The suspect has been identified as Amiina Mutesi, a resident of Kaitabawala zone, in Northern division, in Jinja city while the victim is her husband, Emmanuel Tasaga, aged 45 years.

Mutesi stabbed Tasaga with a knife and wounded him in the left chest causing him to bleed to death.

The couple reportedly developed misunderstandings after Tasaga, left his home over the weekend and returned home on Monday morning at about 4:30 am.

When asked to explain where he had been, the deceased failed to offer a satisfactory explanation to Mutesi.

According to the couple’s 12-year-old son, he witnessed his parents fight but later noticed his father collapse on the ground, with blood covering his chest area.

However, Mutesi called the police after the incident alleging that Tasaga returned home drunk and attempted to stab her with a knife at close range, but it instead struck his own chest as she attempted to move away.

Emmanuel Ochamuringa the officer in charge of Nalufenya police station who led a team of detectives that responded to the scene of crime says that they have embarked on the process of interrogating key witnesses, before releasing a comprehensive statement on the matter.

The deceased’s body was conveyed to Jinja regional referral hospital’s mortuary awaiting postmortem, while the suspect is being detained at Nalufenya police station awaiting prosecution.
