Woman murders 9-year-old step daughter, connives with husband to dump the body
The police in Rukungiri have arrested two people for allegedly beating their 9-year-old child to death.
The duo, Danson Ampumuza the biological father and Barbra Ninsima a step mother both of Kyeshero village Nyabitete parish Buyanja sub county Rukungiri district, assaulted their daughter Mary Nimusima to death.
Elly Maate the Kigezi Regional police spokesperson says that on 11/07/2021, Ninsiima allegedly assaulted the child to death when the father was away.
However, he came back and was informed about the incident, the couple hacked a plan, took the body and dumped it at Kyesero swamp and disguised as if she disappeared. They reported the case to Marumba police post vide SD 03/13/07/2021.
On Saturday 17/07/2021 at around 19:00hrs, the child’s body was discovered by Fabian Asaba and Benson Akandwanaho both male juveniles who had gone to cut papyrus from the same swamp.
They alerted the area chairperson one Justus Kamuhamya who reported to police.
Maate says the scene was visited by D/ asp Nasuuna Harriet, soco and team, body was retrieved and taken to Rwakabengo healthy center lll mortuary pending postmortem.
Upon interrogating the couple confessed to the murder and have since been arrested.
