Two men sentenced to 100 years in jail for killing police officer in Rukungiri

Two Suspects in the murder of a police officer in Rukungiri have Thursday appeared before the Chairperson LT Col Mwesigwa Emmanuel.

The team was transported to Mbarara on 5th February 2021 following their arrest by Kigezi Region Team.

The duo is wanted for the murder of SPC Baryabakabo Galasius who was guarding the Offices of the Electoral Commission on the 27/01/2021.

The suspects are Dusingimana Paul alias Never Give Up, a resident of Murambi village Rwaramba parish, Nyakinama Subcounty in Kisoro district. And Migisha Mukwenda alias Young, a resident of Mukabaya village, Gatete parish in Kisoro district.

Charges were read to the suspect by the Chairperson Court Martial, and the suspects pleaded guilty. They were sentenced and Convicted for Murder and Aggravated robbery of a Gun.

On Count one of murder, the duo was sentenced to 100 years in jail, while on count two of aggravated robbery of a gun, the suspects were sentenced to 70 years.

After their sentence, the suspects were Convicted and taken to Mbarara Main Prison.
