Police in Kukuube district has arrested three suspects in relation to the murder of a 30-year-old man who was burnt to death.
The deceased has been identified as Daniel Ndigizimaana, a resident of Kyamugasa LC1 in Butoole parish Kyangwali sub-county in Kikuube district.
Available reports indicate that unknown assailants raided Ndigizimaana’s home in the early hours of Wednesday morning at around 2 a.m and set his grass-thatched house ablaze.
The deceased who was alone in his house burnt to death.
According to one of the neighbors, when they responded to an alarm made by the deceased, they discovered a thick dark smoke emanating from the burning house. However, it was too late for them to save his life since they could not manage to put off the raging fire.
The Albertine region police spokesperson Julius Hakiza, says they managed to arrest three people who are suspected to have torched the deceased’s house.
Police retrieved Ndigizimaana’s remains and later took them to Hoima City mortuary for postmortem.
Hakiza says the postmortem report indicates that the deceased died from respiratory failure that resulted from suffocation.
The motive is still unknown.
