Police use teargas to disperse Pro-Musenero protesters

The Police in Budaka have fired teargas to disperse protesters who are against a proposal by MPs to censure Dr Monica Musenero the Minister for Science technology and innovation.

The protesters were led by Mr Kisaale James James a brother to Dr Musenero and Moses Botte both residents of Budaka

The duo had earlier written to the RDC Budaka, RPC Bukedi North informing them of an intended peaceful demonstration to be held on Monday 23.5.2022. However, the RPC guided them to follow procedures of how to carry out a legal Demonstration.

But, Alaso Immaculate the PRO Bukedi North Region says that to their surprise, the two went ahead and mobilized local people who demonstrated today 20.5.2022.

“They mobilized locals carrying placards and started marching from Budaka NRM office to the office of RDC showing dissatisfaction with the ongoing intentions by MPs to censure Dr Monica Musenero,” says Alaso.

Efforts to have peaceful engagements with the organizers to follow proper procedures were futile which prompted police to disperse the crowd using teargas.
