UPDF officer stabbed to death following bar brawl in Jinja

Kiira regional police in collaboration with their counterparts at CPS Buwenge are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of Private Michael Kwewana, 39, attached to Gaddafi military barracks in Jinja city.      

It is alleged that on Monday, January 31, the deceased went to Kamuyodisa bar and guesthouse at Bwase zone, in Buwenge Town Council, Jinja district, and picked a quarrel with his friend identified as Zakayo Ngobi 23 over a lady yet to be identified.

According to ASP James Mubi the PRO Kiira/Jinja, Zakayo purportedly stubbed Kwewana in the throat and stomach using a knife at around 3 am.

Officers from Buwenge police immediately responded to the scene, victim was rushed to Buwenge General hospital for medical attention and treatment, and was later referred to Bombo military hospital where he was pronounced dead a few hours later.

Police arrested Zakayo and he is being charged with murder. He is currently detained at Nalufenya police station.

Kiira regional police cautioned the management of all hotels, bars, and guesthouses to always ensure the safety of their clients as a priority and to promptly report chaotic situations to relevant authorities so as to prevent crimes resulting from heat of passion.
