Police Officer arrested for alleged Defilement of 13-Year-Old Child
Authorities at Mbale Central Police Station have arrested one of their own, identified as No.72888 PC Bainomugisha Dancan, a 25-year-old officer, on charges of allegedly defiling a 13-year-old girl.
The victim, whose identity is being withheld due to her status as a minor, is a primary four pupil residing with her uncle in police cell village, within the Industrial Division of Mbale city.
It is alleged that 15/01/2023 at around 1900 hrs, the accused, serving as a police officer attached to Mbale Central Police Station’s General Duties office, forcibly grabbed the child and pulled her into his uniport at the barracks before committing the alleged act of defilement.
Following the incident, the suspect transported the victim to her parents’ home in Butaleja district using a Boda Boda.
According to Taitika Roger, the PRO for the Elgon Police Region, the victim has been residing with her uncle, Mweru Mahad, in a building located 150 meters from Mbale police barracks.
A statement from the victim has been recorded by the police, and a medical examination has been completed confirming that the child was defiled.
Investigations into the matter are ongoing and upon completion, Taitika says the file will be sent to the Resident State Attorney for advice.
