Panic as passenger dies in Bwaise taxi

There was panic in Kampala this morning when a passenger was found dead in a taxi on Thursday morning.

ASP Luke Owoyesigyire the KMP spokesperson identified the deceased as Peter Apangu. He was found dead in a taxi Reg no. UAU 859L was traveling from Katooke Bwaise to Kampala City.

According to the occupants of the same taxi, when they reached Nakivubo Mews, the taxi operators tried to wake him up to pay the fare only to realize that he was dead.

Owoyesigyire says the police homicide team has visited the scene and realized that the deceased had a swelling on the eye, an indication that he had been beaten or hit.

Apangu’s body has been conveyed to the City mortuary in Mulago for postmortem.

Police also arrested the driver of the taxi identified as John Ssemwogerere and another person identified as Bruno Mawejje to aid with investigations.
