Over 400 Motorcycles impounded, riders arrested for obscuring number plates

Police in the Kampala Metropolitan area have impounded 425 motorcycles and their riders were consequently arrested in operations carried out on Monday.

According to Luke Owoyesigyire the PRO KMP, the riders will be arraigned in Courts of law today.

He noted that the operations will continue until the riders stop obscuring their number plates.

On Monday, PRO Traffic Directorate ASP Nampiima Faridah noted that the traffic enforcement on the right placement of registration plates for boda bodas had kicked off and would go on until such a time when they realize compliance.

Those arrested will be charged with obscuring number plates and could be fined or jailed for one to two years.
