Health Ministry partners with Quality Chemicals to provide mosquito nets to women sleeping in food markets
Ministry of health has Wednesday kicked off the campaign to distribute mosquito nets to marker vendors who spend nights at the markets during the ongoing lockdown.
The development follows a directive by President Yoweri Museveni, requiring all women working in markets to sleep in the markets, for fear of carrying COVID-19 diseases to their family members at home.
The mosquito nets are meant to protect the vendors from contracting malaria.
The campaign was launched by Dr. Diana Atwiine, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Health.
During the exercise, Quality chemicals limited led by the Executive Director, Mr. Emmanuel Katongole donated 2,000 mosquito nets to support the exercise.
Together with the Kampala Capital City Authority, KCCA, a total of 5,000 mosquitoes will be distributed across all food markets in the city.
