BoU Laptop Theft Suspect Linked to Parliament Break-In Case
Kule Boaz, a suspect who was recently arraigned before the Buganda Road Chief Magistrate’s Court in connection with the theft of laptop computers from the Bank of Uganda, has been implicated in a separate case involving the theft of property from the Parliament of Uganda.
According to ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police, ongoing investigations and a review of CCTV footage linked Boaz to an earlier case of office breaking and theft at Parliament that occurred on 23 June 2024.
Police allege that during the incident, a television set and a JBL loudspeaker were stolen from the Parliamentary Gym.
Owoyesigyire said that during interrogation, Boaz reportedly confessed to the theft and identified his alleged accomplices.
Subsequent police operations led to the arrest of Kamulegeya Amiri, also known as Musilamu, and Balyejusa Faluku.
A JBL loudspeaker, believed to be part of the stolen property, was recovered from Balyejusa Faluku’s residence in Namasuba. Police say efforts to recover the remaining item, a television set, are ongoing.
The suspects are expected to be arraigned before the Buganda Road Chief Magistrate’s Court on charges related to office breaking and theft.
Investigations into the matter remain ongoing.
