28 Held Following Kira Raid Over Suspected Pornography and Human Trafficking

Police in Kira Division are investigating a suspected case of human trafficking and the promotion of pornography following a raid in Kira Municipality, Wakiso District.

According to SP Racheal Kawala, the Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police, officers on 18 May 2026 at around 8:00 pm received information that a group of young women was being kept in an enclosed residence in Mbalwa Buyinja Zone, Kyaliwajjala, Namugongo Division, and was allegedly involved in illegal activities.

Police responded to the scene and found 27 females aged between 17 and 26 years living in three rooms. Officers also recovered several gadgets allegedly used in online adult content activities.

The exhibits recovered included laptops, cameras, and 10 adult devices.

All 27 females and one male suspect are currently in police custody to assist with statement recording and ongoing investigations.

Preliminary findings suggest that the victims were allegedly involved in commercial online adult content activities. Police say efforts are underway to identify and arrest the suspected recruiters and organizers behind the operation.

Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
