Boda Boda rider shot dead in Gulu City

Security agencies in Gulu City have launched a manhunt for unknown assailants who shot and killed a motorcyclist.

The incident occurred at on Tuesday night around 11:00 pm near Manuel Primary School in Agwee Cell, Pece-Laroo division in Gulu City along the Gulu-Kitgum Highway.   

According to Nicholas Otim the Chairperson of Acholi Sub Region Boda-boda Association who rushed to the scene first, they found out that the unidentified rider was carrying two armed passengers.

The assailants took off with the deceased`s motorcycle, whose registration they are yet to establish.

By press time, they were yet to identify him since they didn’t find any identification documents on his body.
Andrew Opiyo, the Aswa Region Police Community Liaison Officer, says that police have commenced investigations into the murder.
The deceased’s body has been conveyed to the Gulu Regional Referral Hospital morgue pending a postmortem.


The incident comes days after other unknown gunmen shot and injured a motorcyclist in Bungatira Sub County on Sunday morning. At least ten boda-boda motorcyclists have been shot dead by unknown gunmen in Gulu City and its outskirts in the last five months.
