Bar owner stabs, kills client over Shs 500

The police in Kitgum district have arrested a woman who allegedly stabbed and killed a man over Shs 500.

Filder Acan a resident of Lacen Otinga village, Akara parish in Mucwini Sub County was arrested on Thursday following a seven-day hunt following a gruesome incident in which she allegedly stabbed Ponsiano Onek, a resident of Juba village for persistently demanding his balance after buying crude alcohol.

According to Emmy Keith Eyaku the Kitgum District Police Commander, the deceased was escorted home by his colleagues but returned shortly after claiming that he had forgotten his shoes in the bar, a claim Acan disputed and stabbed him with a kitchen knife on the left side in the abdomen.

Onek was rushed to Mucwini Health Center III where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Eyaku says the suspect went into hiding but was arrested after a relative tipped the police and is currently being at Kitgum Central Police Station.
