128 Perish in accidents within a fortnight

128 people died in accidents in the last two weeks, from 15th to 28th May 2022.

According to Faridah Nampiima the spokesperson for the traffic directorate, 68 died people died in the period 15th to 21st May, while 60 died from 22nd to 28th May.

In total, 696 accidents were registered during the two weeks. While addressing the weekly press conference at Naguru police headquarters on Monday, Nampiima advised Boda Boda riders to avoid using the upper roads on the Northern Bypass because, in case of an accident, there is no escape route.

She also revealed that will issue stickers to passenger service vehicles like taxis, buses and coasters with toll-free numbers that members of the public can call in case of bad driving.

She also warned truck drivers against carrying passengers, especially market traders, and minors among others.
