Witchdoctor Arrested for Allegedly Defiling 15 year old Step Daughter
The police in Kamuli have in custody a 28-year-old native doctor for allegedly defiling his 15-year-old step daughter.
The suspect has been identified as Kabanda Abudalah, a resident of Butangala, Northern Division, Kamuli Municipality, while the victim is a P.5 pupil at Buzibirira primary school in Kamuli Municipality.
Claire Nabakka, the deputy police spokesperson says thet their preliminary investigations indicate that in 2019, Nakaga Fatuma, 32, married Kabanda, bringing her daughter from another man into the marriage.
It is alleged that in 2020, Kabanda seduced his stepdaughter into a sexual relationship, and he has since taken advantage of the mother’s busy schedule to sexually abuse the juvenile. Early this year, the victim conceived; this was noticed by the school administration. The victim disclosed the father being responsible for the pregnancy before carrying out an abortion with the help of the mother.
According to Nabakka, the state of affairs prompted the school administration to report the matter to Kamuli Central Police Station for investigation.
A case of aggravated defilement was registered. The victim was examined and referred to the Uganda Women Network and the Kamuli Field Office for psychosocial support and medical treatment. Further investigations are ongoing to establish more relevant facts.
“We appreciate the continued partnership with the Uganda Women Network and the Uganda Police for always reaching out to assist these children in need. We also urge parents to always pay close attention to their children in order to curb such advances from people that are meant to protect them,” said Nabakka.
She further called on schools to also pay attention to students.
