Two struck dead by lightning in Kanungu district

Two people are dead after they were struck by lightning on Tuesday afternoon.

The incident happened at Omunsyokwe village, Kyamukende Parish, Kinaaba sub-county Kanungu district when several people were in the garden.

The deceased have been identified as Turyayebwa Edidiya 42 years and Kajowa Diyana 31 years who both died on spot.

Meanwhile, the other people they were with sustained injuries. These include; Nyinakiiza Flora 40 years and her three children; Ayebazibwe Susan aged 16 years, Friday Akandwanaho m/j 5years, and Kirungi Blessings.

The injured are family members of Turyayebwa Edidiya, while the second deceased had gone to help them in the garden.

Elly Maate the Kigezi Regional police spokesperson says the OC Kinaaba visited the scene and by press time, arrangements to remove the dead and the injured ones for medical attention were underway.
