Seven suspects escape from Police Cell in Mbarara

Police in Mbarara City South Division is hunting for seven suspects who escaped from custody at Ruti Central Police Station.

The incident happened at 3:00 am on Wednesday.

According to Samson Kasasira the PRO Rwizi Region, the suspects dug a hole in the back wall of the Police cells using a panga through which they escaped.

The suspects have been identified as Niwamanya Nicholas who was on charges of defilement, Nuwagaba Julius, Juma Michael, Mugisha Lauben, Kayiwa Farouk, & Kawunga Absu Rajab all on charges of theft, and Ndyabalemi Naboth who is on charge of domestic violence.

Police recovered the panga which was used by the suspects to escape.

Officers who were on duty during the escape have also been, while a hunt is on, to rearrest the suspects.
