Police in Mt Moroto Region have recovered an SMG riffle with invisible numbers from a Karimojong warrior identified as Ichumar who has been terrorizing residents in Nakamistae village, Nadunget Sub county in Moroto District.

The move to disarm Ichumar followed a tip off from residents of Nakamistae village.

This occurred on the 1/7/2021 at around 1830/c at Nakamistae village, Nadunget Sub county in Moroto District.

According to AIP Longole Mike the Ag. PRO Mt moroto Region, it is alleged that Ichumar attempted to kill one Angella Paul using the same gun prompting the victim to flee his home for his dear life.

Ichumar allegedly accused Paul of informing security about his illegal gun. The suspect became violent pointing the gun Burrell to any one he met within the village.

This prompted police in Nadunget to organize to confront him. However, after realizing that the information about his violence had reached police, and he ran out of ammunitions, Ichumar dumped the gun at the home of the chairman peace committee of the village and fled the area.

The gun was then handed over to Police by one Apanyelem, who also doubles as the chairman peace committee of the area.

Police commended the Job well done by both the community of Nakamistae and quick response by the police which led to the recovery of the illegal gun in their area.

AIP Longole says community cooperation has seen them succeeding in their operations. He urged anyone who knows the where abouts of Ichumar to tip off the Police
