Police Officer sent to jail for defiling his 16-year-old housemaid

Police in Kisoro has sent one of their own to prison for aggravated defilement.

D/ Inspector of police Habineza Vianny attached to Bunagana border station allegedly defiled and impregnated his 16-year-old housemaid.

According to IP Elly Maate the PRO Kigezi Region, the crime was committed in February 2021 in Rutare village Chahi sub-county Kisoro district. However, the victim revealed that Habineza had defiled her when it was time to give birth in September.

Maate says the suspect immediately went into hiding until 16/02/2022 when he was arrested from Kigezi regional headquarters at Kabale.

His case file had already been sanctioned, and they immediately produced him before the Kisoro magisterial court presided over by his worship Gidudu Fred the Grade two magistrate, who remanded him to Kisoro prisons until 22/03/2022 when will be back for mention.

Habineza was charged with aggravated defilement for failure to protect the victim as a person in authority.
