Parents, children brace for three more months of zoom lessons
Parents must continue incurring more costs on internet and school fees in order for their children to receive Zoom online lessons after government announced that schools shall remain closed for three more months.
According a statement from Prof. Mary J.N. Okwakol the Executive Director National Council for Higher Education and addressed to all Vice Chancellors and Principals for Higher Education Institutions, the First Landy and Minister of Education and Sports Janet Kataha Museveni has made the recommendation basing on the advice from the Presidential Scientific Advisory Committee.
“The National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) is in receipt of a communication from the First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports informing us that based on the advice from the Presidential Scientific Advisory Committee, the President has guided that all Higher Education Institutions should continue studying online using the ODeL System for at least another three (3) months. This is so as to enable Government find a lasting solution”
Now, all institutions have been advised to utilize the ODel System, while those that have not embraced the system are encouraged to do so.
“Should you require any further information do not hesitate to contact the Ag Director, Quality Assurance and Accreditation, Dr. Pius Achanga” she advised.
Students and pupils have been home since March 18th 2020 following a directive by President Yoweri Museveni to close them downdue to the COVID-19 outbreak.
At least 39,261 have been infected and 318 killed by the virus whose cure is yet to be found.
