Panic as 15-year-old boy commits suicide in Mubende

The police in Mubende are investigating circumstances under which a 15-year-old senior one student of Kasenyi secondary school and son of Byaruhanga Paul a resident of Kijumba lc1, Kiyuni sub county died by hanging.

Ssekizivu Julius was found hanging on a mango tree on 3rd Nov 2022 at about 6 pm.

It is alleged that the young man was staying with his maternal uncle identified as Ssenyonga Lawrence a resident of Kasenyi Caltex village.

However, on Thursday, the deceased approached someone identified as Payasi and asked him where the goats were feeding from as he was in need of a rope.

He shortly disappeared and his body was found dangling on a mango tree located on church land.

Asp Racheal Kawala the Pro Wamala says they were informed and responded to the scene and recorded relevant statements.

Kawala says that the deceased was wearing his school uniform while his sandals were found under the mango tree.

The body of the deceased has been conveyed to Mubende hospital pending a postmortem.

“We urge parents, and guardians to always keep an eye on teens that are depressed and to always keep lines of communication open with their children,” says Kawala.

Investigations are on to establish the cause of the suicide.
