Unidentified Man Killed by Mob in Lugazi, Buikwe District

Police in Njeru, Buikwe District, are investigating the death of an unidentified man who was allegedly killed by a mob on Sunday, March 30, 2025, at 6:30 am in Lugazi II, Njeru Municipality, along the Jinja-Kampala Road.

According to SP Butoto Hellen, PRO of the Ssezibwa Region, at around 6:20 am, an elderly woman, Fatima Namurwa, was walking in Kumusanvu, Lugazi II, when she noticed a man following her and became suspicious.

Namurwa reportedly tried to hide, but two other men emerged from the hiding spot and grabbed her bag, which contained money and phones. She raised an alarm, causing the men to flee. However, residents who responded to her cries chased and caught one of the suspects, who was then lynched by the mob.

The body of the unidentified man has been taken to Jinja Regional Referral Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
