Police are searching for six thugs armed with machetes who attacked Bulenga hardware shop in the wee hours of Friday and robbed 9 million shillings, a gun from a private security guard and a motorcycle.
It is alleged that the thugs hit the shop at about 3:00 am and disarmed the two security guards (one had a gun and another a baton) who were guarding the shop before tying them together with ropes.
The robbers were still cutting the metallic door to the shop when a Boda Boda rider came to park his motorcycle but was also tied up together with the security guards.
“After gaining access to the shop, they robbed 9 million shillings, a gun and a motorcycle. Police were informed and they responded with the canine unit and began tracking the suspects. They tracked the suspects up to Nakuwadde village where the dog led them up to a certain house and they arrested one suspect and recovered the gun that was robbed from the security guard,” says Patrick Onyango the KMP Spokesperson.
The suspect whose name has been withheld for fear of jeopardizing the investigations is being held at Bulenga police station pending transfer to Wakiso district.
Onyango says the gun was recovered with all four rounds intact. He adds that they are now hunting for the other 5 suspects who participated in the robbery.
“We want to commend our officers who worked tirelessly to recover the gun and for arresting the suspect who is currently helping us with the investigation and giving us very useful information,” Onyango added.
He appealed to the public to always give timely information about incidents so that they can respond timely.
