Missing Ibanda Security Guard found dead in Banana Plantation, gun still missing

The body of a security guard attached to Millennium Security Firm limited who went missing along with his firearm in Ibanda town, has been found.

The deceased is Levi Kasaande Asinguza, 24 who went missing on Monday, with his firearm is registration number SAR UGPOL 4182 1051364.

According to Samson Kasasira the Rwizi Region Police Spokesperson, Kasande was on duty at Bell Depot Ibanda Branch along Kashuku Road in Kyabugaija Upper Cell Bufunda Ward, Bufunda Division when he disappeared on Monday.

The deceased’s supervisor, Nasacio Ndyabahika reported the disappearance to police before his body was recovered from the plantation on Tuesday afternoon.

Upon inspection of the scene, Kasasira says Scene of Crime Officers (SOCO) and the Officer in Charge of Criminal Investigations department recovered a blood-stained hammer and a bullet.

The deceased’s colleague who was also on duty claims that Kasande varnished mysteriously and his phones also went off prompting him to notify their supervisor.

Kyabugaija Upper Cell LC 1 Chairperson Mathias Muhumuza, says he got a call from one of the residents who informed him about the body in the garden.

He suspects that the security guard could have been killed elsewhere and his body dumped in the banana plantation because there are traces of tires and feet heading towards the garden.
The deceased’s body is lying at Ruhoko Health Center IV pending postmortem as investigations into the matter are ongoing.
