Man kills own father over Ugandan Shillings 5,000

A 23-year-old man is in custody at Kole Central Police Station for allegedly killing his own father over Uganda Shillings 5,000.

Jimmy Patrick Okema, the North Kyoga Region Police spokesperson identifies the suspect as 23-year-old James Olugu, a resident of Bargri cell, Eastern ward in Aboke Town Council.

Olugu was arrested on Sunday evening shortly after striking his father Alex Ogwang with wood on the forehead over a dispute of Shillings 5,000.

Ogwang died instantly.

An eyewitness says the deceased was punishing his teenage daughter for the alleged theft of the money when the suspect intervened to save his sister and instead picked timber, which he used to strike his father on the forehead, killing him instantly.

Okema says they picked up the suspects to help police investigations.

A case of murder has been opened up against Olugu at Kole CPS on CRB 091/2021.
