Kagadi police are investigating a tragic accident that killed 15 people at about 8:30 pm on Sunday, July 16, 2023.
The incident involved two vehicles: a UAB 43Q trailer and a taxi.
According to SP Hakiza Julius Allan, the PRO Albertine region, preliminary information suggests that the accident was caused by the UAB 431Q trailer carrying a load of dry fish and travelling from Kagadi towards Kyenjojo.
It is alleged that the trailer experienced a mechanical issue causing its brakes to fail. This led to a collision with the taxi approaching from the Kyenjojo direction.
Hakiza says they are yet to get the particulars of the deceased, but all 15 bodies have been conveyed to Kagadi General Hospital, where they will remain until identification and postmortem procedures are carried out.
