Tororo Police probe sudden death of 20-year-old student at Great Aubrey Memorial College
The Police in Tororo are investigating the sudden death of Kisanangara Robin, a 20-year-old student at Great Aubrey Memorial College and resident of Great Aubrey School, Osukiru Town Council, Tororo District.
The incident occurred on July 8, 2023, when he was being rushed to St. Anthony Hospital in Tororo Municipality around 1400 hours.
According to the report filed by Oketch Andrew Machola, the deceased had complained of severe headache, fever, and general body weakness on July 3, 2023, while at Great Aubrey Memorial College in Osukuru Town Council, Tororo District.
He sought medical attention at the school clinic, where he was diagnosed with typhoid and high blood pressure.
Following the diagnosis, Kisanangara received appropriate treatment and completed the prescribed medication on July 7, 2023.
However, on July 8, 2023, while carrying out lunch duties in the school kitchen, he suddenly collapsed and lost consciousness. He was rushed to the school clinic and subsequently, referred to St. Anthony Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
IP Mugwe Johnson Moses Acting Public Relations Officer (Ag. PRO) Bukedi South Region says the body of the deceased has been transferred to the Mbale City mortuary, pending a postmortem examination to determine the cause of death.
He adds that preliminary findings from the ongoing investigation indicate that Robin had been suffering from typhoid, which had been addressed through the treatment provided at the school clinic.
It has also been noted that he resided in the boarding section of the school.
Mugwe says investigations into the matter are ongoing.
