Journalist Carrasco Sumaya dies in Kiryandongo accident

Two people are dead following a head-on collision at Chopelwo valley along Kampala – Gulu highway in Kiryandongo District.

The accident happened on Monday night at about 11:30 pm when motor vehicle Reg. number UAL192U Fuso collided with UAS 597U Rav4.

The driver of RAV4 Mugisha Thomas aged 42 years and his passenger Sadurni Carrasco Sumaya aged 33 years a Spanish national and journalist working with (International Press Association of Uganda, died on spot.

ASP Faridah Nampiima the PRO Traffic and Road Safety says the Fuso driver escaped after the accident, and efforts are underway to have him arrested.

The bodies of the deceased have been conveyed to Kiryandongo Mortuary for postmortem examination.
