IGP Orders CID to investigate an audio by Hon Simeo Nsubuga threatening one Sonko

The Inspector General of Police Okoth Martin Ochola has instructed the Director Criminal Investigations Department to open up a general inquiry file into an audio message attributed to Kassanda South County MP Hon Simeo Nsubuga in which he threatened a one Sonko.

Fred Enanga the police spokesperson says Nsubuga was heard in the audio threatening the life of Sonko who he claims was intimidatin his supporters in Kassanda.

“He issues warning threats against his life, children and family. He further indicated that matters to do with politics are matters of life and death. These are very serious threats to life not only to the person of Sonko but also to his family including children” Enanga said.

He warned members of the public to stop misusing cyber space that has been availed to them. Enanga added that any threats to life whether physically or online constitutes a criminal offense, which is why the IGP instructed that the Simeo issue be handled at CID headquarters.

CID team is expected to look for Sonko who was being threatened, after which the MP will also be summoned to explain himself.

In the audio, a man who identifies self as Simeo Nsubuga threatens a one Sonko that if he wants to live, he should stop calling his supporters and diverting them to his rival, a one Muhumuza.

“If you still want to be alive and see your children grow, leave the person of Simeo Nsubuga” he threatened.

The audio was widely shared on social media, with members of the public demanding for the arrest of the MP, who formerly served as a police officer before joining politics.

It is remembered that after the NRM Parliamentary Primaries last month, Simeo Nsubuga attempted to shoot at members of the public after losing to Michael Muhumuza. Nsubuga tried to disarm a police officer with an aim of shooting at the crowds.

Nsubuga will contest as an independent in 2021, after claiming that the election was rigged.
