IGP Appoints new Deputy Police Commander KMP, as Norman Musinga becomes Commander Rwenzori West Region

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Martin Okoth Ochola has appointed Ben Mubangizi the new Deputy Police Commander Kampala Metropolitan Area.

Mubangizi moves from commanding the alert squad to deputize Stephen Tanui who has been in command of Kampala and neighboring areas for over two months after he replaced Moses Kafeero.

However, Tanui has had two deputies in the two months. The late Deputy IGP Lt Gen Paul Lokech had in the reshuffles made in his last days appointed Ezekiel Emitu as deputy to Tanui.

Emitu’s appointment was protested by Ochola who argued that it was demeaning the police command structures since he was replacing Dennis Namuwooza who was one rank senior.
Emitu was also going to be commanding Ruhweza who is Kampala South Regional Police commander yet he too is his senior by one rank.

In the new reshuffle, Ochola has also appointed Dennis Namuwooza commander operations based at Naguru police headquarters.

Meanwhile, Norman Musinga, the Kampala Traffic Commander has been appointed Rwenzori West Regional Police Commander.  He has been replaced by Deputy Traffic Commander Rogers Nsereko.

Also, Faridah Nampiima has been appointed traffic police spokesperson replacing Charles Ssebambulidde.
