Five men riding on one Motorcycle perish in accident
Five people have died after the motorcycle they were traveling on was involved in an accident.
All five men were travelling on one motorcycle when they got an accident and died on spot. The incident happened on 28/05/2023 at 9:00 PM in Maggi Village, Kyekumbya Subcounty, Kiboga District, along the Kampala-Hoima highway.
The accident involved a Link Bus registration number UBF 953 and a Bajaj Boxer motorcycle registration number UFM 237K.
ASP Kawala Racheal the PRO Wamala identified the deceased as Sekanza Venati, a resident of Bukututu Village, Kyekumbya Subcounty. The rider of the motorcycle.
Ndikumaana Jamari, Wiso, Denis, and Bosco, all residents of Bukukutu Village, Kyembya Subcounty. The four men were all passengers on the Boda Boda.
According to Kawala, preliminary information indicates that the bus registration number UBF 953W, driven by Katwesige George William, was traveling from Kampala towards Hoima. Upon reaching Kasega, it collided with a Fuso Fighter truck with an unidentified number plate that was moving in the opposite direction from Hoima to Kampala.
Meanwhile, a motorcycle UFM 237K, carrying five people, overtook the Fuso Fighter at that moment. The motorcycle struck the bus on the driver’s side, causing the passengers and the rider to fall off the motorcycle and sustain fatal injuries.
The traffic officers were called and responded to the scene. The bodies of the deceased were conveyed to Kiboga Hospital, where they will undergo postmortem examinations. The preliminary investigation suggests that the cause of the accident was reckless driving by the motorcycle rider.
