Confirmed Ebola Virus Disease cases in Greater Kampala reach 14

The minister of health Dr Jane Ruth Aceng has revealed that nine individuals were confirmed positive for Ebola in the Greater Kampala region on Sunday 23rd October 2022, bringing the total number of cases to 14 in the last 48 hours.

According to Dr Aceng, the nine cases are contacts of the fatal case who came from Kassanda district and passed on in Mulago Hospital.

She noted that 7 family members are from Masanafu and one health worker who managed him in a private clinic together with his wife from Seguku.

“Fellow Ugandans, let’s be vigilant. Report yourself if you have had contact or know of a person who has had contact. Let’s cooperate to end Ebola,” said Dr Aceng.

On Saturday, the minister reported that two more contacts to the Kassanda case, who were quarantined in Mulago Isolation facility tested positive for Ebola on Friday 22nd October.

“They have been transferred to the Entebbe ETU. This brings the total number of Ebola cases in Kampala to 5. Be alert and remain vigilant.”
