Body of missing 11-year-old girl found in cotton farm in Kitagwenda District
Police are searching for unknown assailants who murdered an 11-year-old child and dumped her body in a cotton garden in Kitagwenda district.
The victim is Amutuhaire Immaculate female juvenile aged, a pupil at Karambi primary school, resident of Bubale cell, Mahyoro town council, Kitagwenda district.
According to ASP Vicent Twesige the PRO Rwenzori, it is alleged that on Monday 14/02/2022 at an unknown time, the victim was left home with an elder sister.
She, however, left the house without informing the sister and didn’t return.
On Tuesday, the matter was reported to the LC1 chairman who advised the relatives to report to the police.
However, before the relatives could report the matter to police on Wednesday, she was discovered dead in a nearby cotton plantation. The body had marks of strangulation.
The child has been staying with her siblings and her stepmother Kyomuhangi Rosemary. At the time of her disappearance, the stepmother was admitted to the hospital after sustaining injuries in an accident on Monday.
Police led by one D/ASP Ayebale, together with DPC, SOCO, CI visited the scene and introduced K9 but lost track at the lake shores of Lake George.
The body which was in its early stage of decomposition was conveyed to Ntara health centre, and a post mortem examination was carried out.
The unknown suspects are still at large as police investigations continue.
