Bobi Wine says Security team offered by electoral commission attacked him- Video

The National Unity Platform Presidential candidate Hon. Robert Ssentamu Kyagulanyi alia Bobi Wine has revealed that the team offered to him by the electoral commission have attacked, arrested and pepper sprayed them.

Bobi Wine was arrested outside the nomination grounds at Kyambogo grounds, moments after his nomination. But he accuses his so called security team that was supposed to protect him, of attacking him.

He was addressing angry supporters at his home in Magere a few minutes ago.

“The police officers, so called security team given to me by the electoral commission are the ones that attacked me, hit my car and pulled us out. The same team led by that man Aguma who tortures people is the one that led a team that sprayed pepper in my eyes” he said.

Bobi says he could have called his supporters to take on the streets and wreak havoc but they did not, because they are a peaceful lot and want to expose government as the violent one.

He blames the electoral commission for not protecting him now that he is a full candidate who was meant to launch his manifest today.

Bobi says that President Museveni and his counterparts who were nominated on Monday were allowed to launch their manifestos immediately after nomination, yet his plans of doing the same at Kamwokya today, did not yield.

Kyagulanyi had planned to launch the National Unity Platform, NUM manifesto for 2021-2026 at the party offices in Kamwokya, but security foiled his plans.

He spent more than three hours in the car outside his gate, claiming he would walk to Kamwokya, but security did not allow this. Bobi would later give in and enter his gate, where he addressed his supporters and requested them to be peaceful.

He however noted that even if they are shot at and killed, they won’t give up the struggle until they see what happened to Gadhafi, Blaise Compaoré or Omar Bashir here in Uganda.
