Another hate crime? Openly gay Mathew murdered in cold blood

The Police at Katwe is investigating the circumstances under which Noah Mathew Kinono 27, a resident of Kigaga zone Salama Makindye division in Kampala was murdered.

It is alleged the deceased was stabbed with a sharp knife around the neck. His body was found lying in a pool of blood in his rented apartment in Salama on Monday.

According to Luke Owoyesigyire the Deputy Spokesperson of KMP, two suspects have so far been arrested by Police to aid in the investigation. They are currently detained by Katwe Police.

“We have recovered the murder weapon (knife) and it has been taken for analysis. We have also cordoned off the scene of the crime for further investigations,” says Owoyesigyire.

However, the roommate is said to have left him home on Monday morning alive but returned home at 6 pm only to be welcomed by a pool of blood.

According to Kinono’s friends, they last saw him last week during Pride Week, since he lived openly gay and they believe this could have been a hate crime.

“He was found slaughtered like a chicken in his home on Salaama Road. It is a suspected hate crime but we have not established facts yet. He was found locked in the house and alone. I last saw them last week at a Pride Event,” says one of his friends.
