25 year old man commits suicide after testing positive for COVID-19

Shock has gripped residents of Kibingo village, Bwamiramira Sub County in Kibaale district after one of their own, a 25-year-old man reportedly committed suicide after testing positive for COVID-19.

Thomas Oyo, the officer in charge of Kibaale Central Police station identified the deceased as Joseph Ahaisibwe.

Ahaisibwe reportedly committed suicide by hanging on Tuesday evening. 

He had tested positive for COVID-19 early this month and was placed under home-based care.

His relatives however say they found him hanging inside his house when they took for him food.

Ahaisibwe had reportedly improved and his people wondered why he could have decided to end his life.

Fred Byekola the area LC1 Chairperson, alerted the police who, together with the COVID-19 burial team rushed and picked the deceased’s body to prepare for burial arrangements.
