Two soldiers, farmer remanded for murder
The military General Court Martial under the chairmanship of Lt. General Andrew Gutti has remanded two Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces-UPDF soldiers and a farmer to Makindye Military Police barracks for murder of a businessman.
The soldiers are identified as Private Jackson Apiku a soldier attached to Air-boat School Nakasongola and Private Sadiki Olobo attached to the Special Forces Command-SFC. The duo together with Richard Sebina Ssekitoleko a farmer, are accused of murdering one Jackson Katinda Bisaso alias Musa, a businessman in Luwero.
Court heard on Monday that on August 28, 2020, the suspects while at Tweyanze Village Katikamu Sub County in Luwero District with malice aforethought, caused the death of Katinda at 10:10 pm.
The two soldiers were allegedly hired by Ssekitoleko to kill his brother Katinda, for refusing to sell 2.5 acres of family land.
It is also reported that Ssekitoleko promised to pay the killer machines (soldiers) 1.5 Million Shillings and paid them only 200,000 Shillings in advance, promising to pay the balance after the crime is committed.
While appearing before the Court Martial, the suspects denied the charges and were remanded up to November 9, 2020, as investigations continue.
The trio was arrested last month from Nakasongola by detectives attached to the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence and have been kept in custody at Kasenyi SFC barracks custody until they were produced in court.
