Police Investigate murder of Waitress in Amuru District
Four suspects are being held by Amuru police following the murder of a waitress.
The deceased is identified as Margaret Aloyo who was strangled to death on Saturday night around 9:00 pm in Lumule Cell in Luzira Ward in Pabbo Town Council.
Lucy Aber, a resident of Agoro Cell and owner of the restaurant where the deceased was working, says that another waitress was later discovered alive but unconscious in the same makeshift structure where Aloro’s body was recovered.
Aswa River Region Police Spokesperson, Patrick Jimmy Okema coukld not identify the suspects, whose names for fear of jeopardizing investigations.
According to Okema, preliminary findings indicate that there was a scuffle in the restaurant as plastic chairs and tables were found scattered with water splashed on the floor.
He added that after a detailed examination of the deceased’s body, it was discovered that her neck was broken and her body was later laid on a mat tucked under a mosquito net to disguise the murder.
Aloyo’s body was conveyed to Gulu Regional Referral Hospital for postmortem.
